Peace! Shalom! Pace! This is a traditional Christian greeting among believers in Eastern European churches. It might sound foreign to some of us western believers to hear someone say peace, shalom or pace when greeting or shaking hands with someone in Christian circles, but when we became believers during Communism in Romania, the saints of God greeted one another with this simple word. It distinguished believers from non-believers. The peace of God was something we needed to carry with us especially during those times, because we knew that being believers in Christ Jesus could cost us our lives.
